GSD IN GREAT BRITAIN - OUR
FUTURE??? |
|
by David Payne |
|
Maybe we are not yet ready to control out own breeds future in the
UK. There is far too much of a casual and tinkering attitude and not
enough intelligent forethought, planning and strategy.
Some rethinking and reorganisation is
clearly required.
I believe we have to STICK with a
WUSV member Club (The GSDL), however we need to form the GSDL/WUSV
section exclusively for our Regional Events, etc. With membership of
this section forming a basis and organisation to take us forward.
With a smallish Annual membership fee of say Ł10. A unique
membership card & number (similar to the SV) and with GSDL/WUSV
membership we could offer/include the December issue of the SV
Magazine (bulk ordered from the SV). This being the most
interesting.
This would be the cohesive basis for
our well organised and well planned future for GSD in the UK, which
must fully embrace intelligent forethought, planning and strategy.
I see such an organisation being
responsible for Our Regional Events, our British Sieger and our GSD
Breed Survey. I also see such an organisation forming a National
Consultative Council drawn from Regional Consultative Councils and
establishing Sections for the various fundamental requirements of
our GSDL/WUSV System, namely "Identification Requirements
(microchip/tattoo/DNA parentage" - "Health Requirements" - "Working
& Training Requirements" - "Communication Requirements" - "Strategic
Requirements" - "an exploratory SV - UK GSD Registration System
Council" - "GSDL/WUSV & KC Consultations" - Breed Survey
Requirements" - "Breed Surveyors Meetings". These may be separated
or connected as considered necessary or useful.
It may look daunting, however I am
sure it looks and sounds more complex and demanding that it would
actually be. By establishing such an organisation we would have a
very promising future indeed.
